About Project
This residence at Nilambur is a renovation project where the clients were particular for the new design to imbibe time-honoured aesthetic and placeness of the existing site. The design, therefore, uses as one of its many traditional elements, wooden pillars that were procured and restored from an old residence in Vadakara. Further, exposed laterite and rubble masonry are used to flee from any artificiality in the building materials.
The client's requirement to have an open and wider looking facade was taken into consideration by providing a longer verandah space. The finishes and textures also allude to the typical South Indian style of architecture. The wooden and arched roof additions coalesce seamlessly over the verandah. A careful selection of furnishings along with the thoughtful colour palette subtly merges into the warm shades of the existing built. The design aims to carry the vision of the client into its execution in its purposeful detailing and design.
